Choosing the right network when you deposit crypto
Many coins exist on several blockchains. If you pick the wrong network, a deposit may never arrive. This guide explains how to choose.
Many coins and tokens exist on more than one blockchain. USDT, for example, can be sent on Ethereum (ERC-20), BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) or Tron (TRC-20). These are different networks: a transfer on one of them is invisible on the others.
Use the same network on both sides
When you open the Deposit page, first choose the coin and then the network. The address you get belongs to that network. In your wallet or on the other exchange you send from, choose exactly the same network.
- USDT sent on TRC-20 must go to your Tron (TRC-20) deposit address.
- ELG sent on BNB Smart Chain must go to your BEP-20 deposit address.
- BTC can only be deposited on the Bitcoin network.
Sending on a different network, or sending a token that is not listed for that network, can lead to a loss that is hard or impossible to recover.
Why do networks differ?
Each network has its own fees, speed and number of confirmations. Tron and BNB Smart Chain are usually cheap and fast; Ethereum can be more expensive when it is busy. You can see the confirmations and minimum deposit for every network in the Help Center and on the Fees page.
A short checklist
- Choose the coin and the network on the Deposit page.
- Copy the address with the copy button (do not type it by hand) or scan the QR code.
- On the sending side, pick the same network and check the first and last characters of the address.
- Send more than the minimum deposit. For a large amount, send a small test first.
- Wait for the network confirmations. The deposit is credited automatically.
If a confirmed deposit has not arrived after an hour, open a ticket on the Support page with the coin, network, amount and transaction ID (TXID).
